Lesson From the Front Lines - Crisis Communication

Presented on Thursday 10th March by Chris Adams and Doug Luciani of Miles Media and Dr. Dirk Glaesser of the UNWTO. This one hour presentation introdices:

  • A brief overview of to Online Marketing Capabilities Program including the upcoming workshops and benchmarking process.  Introduction to Crisis Communication.
  • Doug Luciani – A PR veteran who has worked on the front lines of major disasters impacting the State of Florida over the last 15 years – working for and with the State Tourism Organization and running his own agency with dozens of tourism clients. From bush fires to multiple major hurricanes and last year’s Gulf Oil Spill – Florida has seen its tourism industry under assault from natural and manmade disasters. Doug will share the essential lessons from these episodes with a focus on using new media/social media tools and techniques.
  • Dr. Dirk Glaesser, Chief of Risk and Crisis Management at the UNWTO will briefly share his insights and suggestions from  major crisis all over the world – emphasizing the importance of rich media solutions (eg: webcams) to keep visitors informed and the power of guarantee programs.
